Alicia Keys: The Rhythm of Success
Born in the Hell’s Kitchen area of Manhattan New York, Alicia Augello Cook, better known as Alicia Keys began playing classical music on the piano at the early age of seven. Keys graduated at the age of 16 as valedictorian from Professional Performing Arts School, and attended Columbia University before dropping out to pursue her singing career.
Keys blasted onto the music scene in 2001 with “Fallin’” off of her extremely successful album “Songs in A Minor”, which earned her five Grammy awards. She released her second studio album “The Diary of Alicia Keys” in 2003 which earned her four more Grammy awards.
Keys made her big screen acting debut in the 2006 movie “Smokin’ Aces” where she played an assassin, and the following year she was cast in “The Nanny Diaries”. Keys third studio album “As I Am” was released in 2007 and once again earned her three more Grammy awards. Keys fourth studio album “The Element of Freedom” was her first chart topping album in the U.K.
Keys has been very successful both professionally and personally, she married popular DJ/rapper Swizz Beatz on the French island of Corsica in July 2010 and three months later on October 2010 gave birth to their son, Egypt.
