The Phone Game
When we were little we would play telephone with our friends. Then when we were teenagers we would call our them and talk hours. Now here we are starting adulthood and the communication that we once had is gone. Why is it that as we get older we no longer want to play the phone game?
The other day I ran into one of my old friends at the store. We exchanged pleasantries and then they said that they hadn’t heard from me in a while and that I should call more often. With anyone else this comment would have been fine, but with this person it rubbed me the wrong way. The reason we that we had not talked for a while is because they ended didn’t communicate and call.
For a friendship to continue to grow and work there has to be communication between both parties. One person can not be doing all the communicating for both people. Picking up the phone and texting or calling people is not a hard task. It takes an effort to make it happen and play the telephone game.
